How To Add a Network Place

When Microsoft change things with each new edition of the Windows sofware it can sometimes be difficult to find how to do something that you thought was pretty simple and commonplace in the past. One example of this for me was to use ‘Add Network Place’ when you wanted to connect to a folder that was on a website where you had documents or images stored – previously this was a pretty simple thing to do.

But now in Windows 7 I have found that it seems to be hidden in the depths of things and is not immediately obvious.

Anyway, to add a network place in Microsoft Windows 7 you need to do this:

Open Windows Explorer
Click on Tools
Map Network Drive
At the bottom of the next dialog box you have the link to ‘Connect to a website that you use to store your documents and pictures’
After that you just need to enter the website address and you are sorted.

You will then find the link under the Computer section in the left hand folders menu.

No More Harry Potter DVDs

So at the end of this year Warner Brothers will stop shipping the Harry Potter movie DVDs to the stores as no more will be produced. Obviously this is a bit of a marketing ploy to get people to buy them, particularly as Christmas is approaching, but it might just work. With the last DVD just out (or coming out shortly in the UK) and the box set just released, this is the perfect time to give the Harry Potter movies as a Christmas gift before they are no more.

The rumour is that Warner Brothers will start only releasing special edition sets of the DVDs from next year so the standard ones will only be available on sites like ebay.

Is Bleeding Gums a Pregnancy Symptom?

This may seem like a strange question to ask, but when people are trying to get pregnant then all sorts of things can seem like pregnancy symptoms. In some cases they are completely unrelated to any possible pregnancy but in other cases they may be a sign of pregnancy.

Bleeding gums is one symptom that, believe it or not, could be a sign of pregnancy. In fact not only can it be a sign of early pregnancy, but it might also continue further into the pregnancy.

The reason that bleeding gums can be a sign of pregnancy is that when you are pregnant your progesterone levels increase and increased progesterone can increase the susceptibility of gums to the effect of bacteria from plaque, causing gingivitis. Although you should not be too worried about this, you should keep up regular checks with your dentist and if the bleeding and/or swelling of the gums seems excessive then you should make an appointment to see your dentist as it could degenerate into something worse.

So, make sure that you keep up with your dental health routine, flossing and cleaning at least twice a day, so that there is less risk of this occurring. Also, there was a study completed that showed slightly lower conception levels on those women who had worse dental health than those whose overall dental health was good. So if you are trying to get pregnant you should also ensure you are cleaning and flossing regularly.

Is This The Most Popular Christmas Toy?

So every year there is a top ten list of the most popular Christmas toys and one that I have noticed being on a lot of these lists may bemuse some parents a bit! it is a toy aimed at slightly younger children (although recommended for those over 3) and it is called Doggie-Doo!

Doggie-Doo is available in both the Uk and the US (see links below) and it is a game that encourages children to be aware that if they have a dog they have to pick up it’s poop afterwards if they take it out for walks. With poop always being something that makes kids laugh, this game will not fail to amuse the children when they have to ‘scoop the poop’, albeit the poop in this case is plasticine.
