If you are looking to set up a Twitter account but maybe the name you want has been taken then you might think you can add in some characters to get the username you want. So what characters are allowed in a Twitter username?
Well unfortunately the answer is not very many! In fact it is even less than that – there is only one character that is currently allowed in Twitter usernames and that is the underscore. perhaps more characters will be added in the future but other than that you can currently only use letters and numbers.
One thing you could think about doing then is to substitute a letter for a number – the most common substitutions are using a 4 instead of an A, a 0(zero) for an O or a 1 instead of an I. You could also use a 5 instead of an S but after that you need a bit of artistic licence! You could have 3 as an E or 2 as a Z, 6 could be a G.
Adding an underscore before, in the middle or after the name could give you what you are looking for, but often people have already done that too.
