If you are struggling to reduce the amount of sugar that you eat – whether that be in tea and coffee, on cereal etc – then there is an alternative available that is both free from calories and also does not contain any artificial sweeteners.

This also benefits those who are trying to get pregnant, or who are pregnant (or in fact anyone), who are not happy with the possible side effects of manufactured sweeteners like aspartame or saccharin. Although there have been no proven links to artificial sweeteners causing cancer or problems in pregnancy, rumours still abound and some feel it is better to be safe than sorry and not to use artificial products in excess.

The new sweeteners are made from the stevia leaf and  so are a completely natural product. Products such as Truvia are now available and they taste very much like sugar, but without the calories, albeit at a much higher price.

The stevia leaves are steeped in water, like when you make tea, which brings out the sweet flavour. The resultant granules are actually much sweeter than sugar in terms of how much you need to use. Just adding a third of a teaspoon of Truvia is like adding a full teaspoon of sugar into your daily brew.

Want to Buy the Raspberry Pi?

If you have heard all of the buzz about the Raspberry Pi recently, which is a computer that you can buy for around £22, then you may be wondering where you can buy the Raspberry Pi?

Well the buzz has been so big that stocks of the small personal computer have already sold out on their launch date. However, more stocks are on the way and although currently you can only buy one piece per order, bulk orders will soon be possible.

The development of the Raspberry Pi was inspired to make schoolchildren more keen on getting into the coding and development of programs that children of the 80’s used to do on simple basic computers like the ZX Spectrum. The ‘computer’ doesn’t come in a case but instead is just a motherboard that can be connected to a monitor or TV.

YouTube Ad Program

The YouTube Ad Program enables users of YouTube who upload their videos, to earn money from ads that show when people view their videos. It can be a good stream of income if you have original videos that are likely to get a lot of views.

There are two ways of getting into the YouTube Ad Program – the first is to get invited by YouTube and the second is to apply for your account to be included. However, don;t hold your breath for too long if you apply as it can and probably will take months for your application to be processed.

The most obvious criteria that YouTube set for becoming part of the program is to have a video that is completely your own content and that attracts a large number of views in a shortish period of time. However, we have heard of people who got invited with just one video of a few thousand views and others who got turned down with a number of videos of tens of thousands of views – so acceptance to the YouTube Ad Program is not in any way guaranteed.

Once accepted to the program, you can select which of your videos you monetise – so if you only have some that are individual to you then you can just select those. As YouTube is part of Google you will need to have a valid Adsense account as that is how the money is earned.
