So Desigual is one of my favourite clothing brands due to my penchant for bright colours and patterns! However, their clothes are not particularly cheap (for your everyday shopper) and so they need to be taken care off. The Desigual tops that I have bought have said hand wash only and if you are like me then you don’t have much time for handwashing as things that need washing by hand just end up in the bottom of the washing basket for weeks!
So I thought that I would take a chance and put my Desigual tops in the washing machine. The most recent one I have is this one:
So it has some extra bits of material sewn into the pattern which I guess might make using the washing machine the wrong thing to do.
Anyway, I went ahead and washed my Desigual top in the washing machine – I only washed it at 30 degrees to make sure i didn’t wash it too hot. But it came out OK. Now I would say that it possibly shrunk a little bit but I had been on my guard against this possibility when I bought it and had made sure I bought a size that had a little bit of room for shrinkage. I usually do this with most clothes anyway as often new cloth will shrink slightly in the wash.
Once I had given it an iron it looked perfectly fine so I was happy to keep washing it in the washing machine.
** Please note though, that if you do not follow the instructions on the label, that you do so at your own risk! Don’t take my word for it as you may have a different washing machine that doesn’t like your top (or other garment) – or a different garment may not like it (I also washed another similar one in white and it came out fine too, if a little bit smaller).
