eBay used to be the default place to sell concert tickets and tickets for other events if you could no longer use them. There were also a lot of people selling tickets on eBay making large profits on the original cost price of the tickets. But can you still sell tickets on eBay?
There were a lot of unscrupulous people selling tickets that were not genuine and also people buying up tickets just to sell them on for profit, which was starting to harm the ticket industry and was no fair to the genuine fans who wanted to buy tickets for gigs that were sold out. So eBay have had a bit of a shake up and they now have a dedicated ticket selling website called StubHub. So you can no longer sell your concert tickets on eBay as the ticket categories have been removed.
In order to use StubHub you need to set up a new logon – you can’t use your existing eBay user ID. The auction format has also gone and you can get guidance on what price you want to ask for your tickets compared to the price of other similar tickets for the same event. The fees are also slightly higher on StubHub (12%) although there is no listing fee so if your tickets don’t sell then you don’t pay anything.
There is however, the option of putting tickets in at a decreasing value as time goes on so that you cover your bases and manage to sell the tickets before the event.
