If you are looking to buy books in the UK, and at a good price then you have a few options.  There are still a few high street shops selling books like Waterstones and Borders but overall book sellers are moving onto the internet where you can search for the best prices on books that you want.

The advantage of book stores is that you can browse through shelves of books until you find one that takes your fancy by reading the back cover etc. Book stores may also have special offers on 3 for 2 books etc that you can’t get online. Also if you need a book straight away then you can just pick one up and take it home.

However, if you are looking for a particular book and you know what you want, then you don’t necessarily need to go to a bookshop. The most popular place to buy books for years has been Amazon, and many people go there by default when looking for books as they know that they are a trusted retailer.

But, there are many more booksellers on the internet and quite often you can find one that will sell the book you are looking for, for less than you have to pay on Amazon. One of these cheaper book stores is Abe Books which source there books from many areas, including abroad. Just enter the ISBN of the book you are looking for and it will give you a selection of sellers to choose from.


AbeBooks.co.uk Book Sale

AbeBooks sells new, second-hand and collectible books. I recently looked for a technical book that was £19.79 on Amazon and I managed to get it for around £3 less on AbeBooks – it was a new book too so I was surprised that I could get it at such a low cost compared to the Amazon price.

Most people have heard that the world is supposed to end in 2012. Whether or not you believe this might happen there is plenty of information out there that says there will be an apocalypse on 21 December 2012. There are many skeptics out there (and I am one of them for sure) that say the 2012 calendar stories are just rubbish but we will not find out obviously until it is maybe too late.

There have been a few books written all about the 2012 calendar predictions and no doubt there will be a few more before the date hits us. Some people have been carrying out detailed investigations into the predictions which were made thousands of years ago. Amazon for College Textbooks

As the new school and college terms start again, students are once again looking for the best place to buy their textbooks. There are a number of options for buying textbooks and one of the best is to find someone who has previosusly studied the same course and has graduated or finished using their own textbooks. Many books are still in good condition and are a cheap way of getting textbooks for your next year of study.

So, if you are looking for new textbooks then the most obvious place to buy new textbooks online is Amazon. But did you know that you can not only buy new textbooks at Amazon but you can also buy (and sell if you want to) used college textbooks. In this way you can find the college textbooks that you need but at a cheap price and cheap textbooks are always going to be a great option for college students, let’s face it!

Then, once you have finished with those college textbooks yourself, you can again sell them on Amazon – recycling at it’s best!

Buying Harry Potter Books

So the last Harry Potter film was recently released (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2) and audience viewing figures, as per usual in the release of a Harry Potter film, were through the roof. because of the fact that this was the last installment it was quite an impetus for people to go and see the film to check out what happened to Harry Potter and his friends.

I personally enjoyed the film hugely, having seen all of the others previously and having been eagerly awaiting the dramatisation of the last Harry Potter book. Even if you have not seen all of the other Harry Potter films it is still worth going to see this one.

As it has been such a long period of time that the Harry Potter books and films have been out, there are likely some people that have not actually read all of the Harry Potter books. If you are one of them then I would recommend reading all of the Harry Potter books from the start so that you can gain all of the additional info that you get from a book and that is left out of the films.

Of course one of the best places that you can get hold of the Harry Potter books is at Amazon. They have the whole selection of all 7 books and you can either buy the books separately or as a complete boxed set of all 7 Harry Potter books together. But, and it is a big but, the Harry Potter books are NOT available on the Kindle. The main reason for the fact that you can’t get Harry Potter on the Kindle is that the author, JK Rowling, objects to the Kindle format for some reason.

However, the good news for those who have the Barnes & Noble nook is that the Harry Potter books are all available in ebook format on the nook and that is the only place where you can get an eFix of harry Potter.

So, although Amazon have a great selection of paperback and hardback books, take a trip to Barnes & Noble if you want to get hold of Harry Potter in an eBook format.
